'Jo is one of the most talented and professional Editors that I have worked with. On all of the productions her work was exceptional. She was extremely dedicated and worked long hours to ensure the completion of each project. Deadlines were always met with the highest standard. She was a very valued member of the producion team and worked well with everyone involved. I highly recommend her.' Triona Campbell - Series Producer 'Sofia's Diary' and 'Aisling's Diary'
Aisling's Diary Series 1 was broadcast on RTE 2 from September 1st 2008. It follows 'the life of an Irish dance obsessed Irish American teenager, Aisling, who returns with her family to Ireland and attempts to fit in to a new school and culture. As her family struggle to adjust to their new life, Aisling falls for the hip hop bad boy next door.' (description by Trevor Curran - Producer). The show was broadcast daily in 3-4 minute episodes, followed by a 15 minute ominibus at the end of every week. It was filmed HD on the Sony EXCAM using tapeless workflow to ingest into the editing system.
I was the sole editor on the project, working with my assistant (Gwyn Moxham - www.headjar.com), putting together the episodes based primarily off my own instincts and on directors notes. I had to keep the directors (based remotely in Ireland), my Executive Producer and RTE happy! The turn around time for this show was very intense, especially as I was editing Sofia's Diary series 2 concurrently, but I feel we created a very nice and engaging television show. The show was well recieved critically and publicly (Nominated in the 'Best Children's/Youth programme' catergory at IFTA), and subsequently was commissioned for a holiday special which was broadcast on Christmas day (RTE 2). The holiday special was especially fun to edit as it ran to a longer length (25 minutes) allowing more time for the story to breath and flow, I enjoyed the process immensely. In February 2010 the holiday special won the 'Best One Off, Special or TV Movie' award at the Kidscreen Awards in New York.
Aisling's Diary was commissioned for a second full series broadcast in September 2009 on which I was the online and offline editor.
